I think it is one of the best book in literature. I have read Turganev book which title was "Fathers and Son". Now, I have decided to read the book also. Nice review.

Me too, Yadira. I saw my first condor this May at the Grand Canyon. Words cannot express how awesome it was. I was a kid during their bleakest period, and it didn't seem even remotely possible that I would ever see one free-flying in the wild.

I'm happy to see the California condor on the list. In the 1980s the species hit a low of 22 birds left in the world. At the brink of extinction all birds were moved into breeding centers. We're happy to say you can once again spot those birds flying in California, Arizona and Baja California, Mexico. The population of this species is now at more than 330, with half of those flying free. Visit www.cacondorconservation.org to learn more about this remarkable species.

That Ivory-billed Woodpecker is pretty odd! But I guess it's to make sure nobody gets them all.

Here is the <a href="http://www.birderslibrary.com/reviews/supplemental/remarkable-birds-the-top-100.htm" rel="nofollow">complete list</a>.

It looks like only 1 of the 5 groups you mentioned are represented. The author did state that he tried to limit it to no more than 2 representatives from any given family or group. He kept to it for the most part, except for the raptors and shorebirds. And having 2 of the world's 15 cranes included may be a bit much. But cranes are amazing, so I can't fault that too much.

Would you list the 100 species, please? Just curious. To me, it is more bird groups that I would want to see. Like at least one representative of the pittas, woodswallows, fairy-wrens, nandus, seed snipes etc.

I moved about 3 months ago and didn't change my address with this magazine. I did not know about this DVD on hummingbirds. I did not recieve it. I will not pay for it since I did not order it. I am sure it is a very wonderful video but at tihs time I am not going to subscribe to a DVD collection. I have enjoyed your magazine.

Thanks for your understanding in this matter, Betsy K Turner
